As no records of Cheng Hoon Teng’s early history exist, it is fortunate the elders left behind a legacy of steles - engraved stone tablets marking important events.These have helped to throw light on efforts to expand or upgrade the premises in the past.

With this in mind, the latest restoration has been fully documented for the benefit of future generations. Besides an inventory listing all items of significance, notes and visual records were maintained of the entire restoration. Available on request, they include two videos - an overview of Cheng Hoon Teng, and a technical version detailing various aspects of the restoration.
